ՎԱՐԴԱՆ ՄԱՏԹԷՈՍԵԱՆ

Անցեալը մեռած չէ, որքան ատեն որ ներկայ կը պահենք զայն։ Իսկ ներկան անկարեւոր պիտի ըլլայ, որքան ատեն որ չենք փնտռեր անոր կարեւորութեան նշանները։ Հայկական ստեղծագործութեան կարեւորութիւնը, թէ՛ անցեալ ու թէ՛ ներկայ, պարզապէս հիմնուած է զայն կարեւոր դարձնող տարրերուն որոնումին վրայ, ըլլան անոնք 100ամեայ դասականը կամ 20ամեայ բանաստեղծը կամ վիպագիրը որ հրատարակած է իր գիրքը աշխարհի որեւէ մէկ կողմը։
The past is not dead as long
as we keep it present. And the present will not be relevant as long as
we don't look for the signals of its relevance. The relevance of
Armenian creation in the past and in the present is just a matter of
looking for the elements that help make it relevant, be them the 100-year-old
classic or the 20-year-old poet or novelist who has published his book
anywhere in the world.

pasado no está muerto en la medida en que lo mantengamos presente. Y el
presente no será relevante en tanto y en cuanto no busquemos las señales de su
relevancia. La relevancia de la creación armenia en el pasado y en el presente
radica en la búsqueda de los elementos que la hacen relevante, sean ellos el
clásico de antigüedad centenaria o el poeta o novelista de 20 años que ha
publicado su libro en cualquier parte del mundo.
